Coconut Bars
Cookie base
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- Beat softened butter and brown sugar until smooth
- Mix in flour and salt until blended, mixture will be crumbly
- Press 3/4 of dough evenly into greased pan, set 1/4 of dough aside
- Filling
- 10 mounds bars
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup shredded coconut
- 1/4 cup chopped almonds (optional)
- Roughly break up Mounds bars and drop them evenly over raw dough in pan
- Sprinkle in shredded coconut
- Pour can of sweetened condensed milk over everything
- Top with remaining 1/4 cup of dough
- Bake at 350* for 12-15 minutes
Topping
- 6 oz semi sweet chocolate chips
- Toasted coconut
- Hot out of the oven, sprinkle chocolate chips on top
- Wait about 5 minutes for chips to melt then spread smooth
- Sprinkle toasted coconut over top
- Chill for an hour or overnight
