Ma's Cookin'

Honey Dew Biscuits

While all seems to be falling apart around me, I know I can always count on baking to make me feel better. With the lack of groceries we had to get creative. We had all the basics, flour salt and butter. Add in honey and sour cream and you've got yourself a heart warming biscuit.

For this week's video I chose a recipe book that is rooted in hard work and classic cooking. Ma's Cookin' features recipes created by the Ozark Mountain people. This community formed after the First World War due to unclaimed land. The crazy thing is that there are still mountain people that live there today, catching squirrels and living in tents! Completely cut off from technologically advanced society.

With each recipe comes a fun story or saying from the Ozarks. They are written in what I would call Hillbilly fashion. Example: After you've robbed yore next bee tree an' kinda got over your stings, try this recipe with sum of yore honey!

Sullivan and I really enjoyed these biscuits! They are sweet, buttery, and super soft! They can last a long time too, as long as you pace yourself.... It will be difficult to stay away. Change up the flavors and have fun!
