Getting Camera Ready

How to Get the Vintage Look

When it comes to vintage make-up there are only two words to keep in mind, simple and bright.  While doing my life long research on vintage style, I have come to the conclusion that makeup was primarily used to enhance your natural beauty for the camera.

These beautiful ladies are perfect examples. (Left: Audrey Hepburn, Right: Rita Hayworth) Notice the lack of dark eyeshadow and thick eyeliner.  Their eyes are enhanced with long lashes and white highlights.

It is important to start off with a good liquid cover-up and compressed powder. Then brighten your cheeks with a rose colored blush.
I apply a light eyeshadow with an orange tint just in the crease of my eyelid and then apply an iridescent white shadow under the arch of my eyebrows and the inside corners of my eye.

Liquid eyeliner is my best friend.  Along with a good mascara, it is perfect to use when you want a thin line to extend your lashes.
My favorite lip color right now is a coral red. Always add a little color to your lips so they don't look washed out in your photos.

Of course to complete the look, your make-up isn't complete until it is paired up with the perfect vintage outfit.

xoxo
