Party Time!

Happy October!

I have to say, October is one of my favorite months. I get to wear comfy sweaters, drink hot apple cider, and watch the leaves change colors.  With the warm weather disappearing, the need for comfort food approaches.  I have created a dessert that will not only warm your heart but also satisfy your Halloween sweet tooth.

Chocolate Maple Bacon Cupcakes

These babies are perfect in every sense of the word.  At first bite you're hit with the sweetness of the maple butter-cream, then the warmth of the cinnamon hidden in the chocolate cupcake and finally the salty, smoky, caramelized bacon.  Your taste buds will be dancing all over the place and leaving you wanting more than just one bite.
I had the pleasure of baking these tasty cupcakes for my sisters very first Halloween party.  The party was for 15 year old girls and if they were anything like Abby, then I knew they would love bacon!  Who doesn't?  As I expected the cupcakes were a hit.  One of the girls even sacrificed her face make-up just so she could eat one.

 Candied Bacon

It was my first attempt at candying bacon and I guarantee it will not be the last.  It was so easy and so delicious I determined it is the only way to eat bacon now.
  • Preheat oven to 400*
  • Place bacon on parchment lined baking sheet
  • Sprinkle with brown sugar
  • Bake for 10 mins
  • Flip over and change parchment to prevent sugar and grease from burning
  •  Sprinkle with more brown sugar
  • Bake another 10 mins
  • Flip and change parchment
  • Turn down oven to 350*
  • Bake until it is a mahogany color
Absolutely Heaven! You will not be sorry.  I promise!
Hope you all have a wonderful Halloween!

Abby dressed as a ninja and I as Elvis from Jailhouse Rock!

xoxo
